This summer I participated in a five-week intensive research program offered at Drexel University through a NSF grant. This program was designed to give classroom teachers the opportunity to work with professors and graduate students in Drexel's engineering departments. The researchers are working on cutting edge technology that our society will benefit from in the future. Knee cap replacements and new drug delivery systems are a few examples. We were exposed to new research involving biotechnology, information technology, nanotechnology and robotics. This program also introduced us to the vast amount of funding opportunities for teachers and schools to improve our classrooms and laboratories. Teachers participated in grant writing sessions.
I was interested in just brushing up my physical science and computer skills, I am walking away with much more!
