My Current Teaching Assignment

I am an appointed Teacher at Franklin Learning Center, in the Central Region of the School District of Philadelphia. I hold a PA teaching certificate in secondary Mathematics, and therefore I can teach any math High school course.  I am assigned to teach Geometry and Algebra I. I have also taught Transition Math.

Franklin Learning center is a magnet school which admits middle school kids from all over the district and not just from the neighborhood. It has about 700 students and they are very hard working because each one is required to earn a minimum of 10 FLC credits in every subject. Led by our devoted principal Charles Staniskis and his hardworking assistant principal, Ms Denise Guiniven, we are a community of learners dedicated to excellence.

Why RET Program interested me

RET Program offers a unique opportunity to learn new and exciting technologies, to work with other teachers and learn from one another, and to design ways to take the total experience back to my students at Franklin  Learning Center. I always consider myself as a new teacher open to learning new ideas and at every opportunity.

The RET Program allows teachers to be fully immersed in research at the university level and with the constant help of the Professors and Graduate students in that particular area.  The hands-on learning allows the teachers to see research and development from the grassroots as faculty and graduate students contemplate creative ideas and new technologies.

The wonderful experience was the opportunity to learn and develop exciting and useful ideas for the classroom. The Program offered grant writing experiences, which I would really like to pursue at Franklin Learning Center once I get a chance. I would also, together with my students like to pursue the area of engineering. My anticipation for this program has been achieved and I am sure to implement the ideas in my school and most of all encourage students to be focused towards college and specifically in the field of engineering. I also feel obliged to set a good example and talk more to women so that they can join engineering too.
