Wen Elected to ASHRAE College of Fellows

Jin Wen, PhD, professor of civil, architectural and environmental engineering and associate dean for research and innovation, has been elected to the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) College of Fellows. This honor is bestowed upon only 1.6% of ASHRAE’s 50,000+ members.

Wen’s research focuses on developing machine learning-based smart building solutions, including automated fault detection and diagnosis methods. She has pioneered occupant behavior simulation models for machine learning-based occupant-centric model predictive control. Wen’s work has been supported by various government agencies, resulting in over 60 journal papers and 4,400+ Google Scholar citations.

As an ASHRAE Fellow, Wen will serve as an ambassador, mentoring students and young professionals, sharing knowledge, and supporting the society’s research programs. She is also the rising vice chair for ASHRAE’s Research Administration Committee and leads a task force in the International Energy Agency’s Energy in Buildings and Communities Program.
